Cole Mourns Loss of Sue Healey

February 1, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement upon hearing of the passing of Sue Healey of Davis, Oklahoma.

"I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and civic and Republican leader Sue Healey of Davis, Oklahoma. Sue and her late husband ‘Skip' were key players in the creation of the modern Republican Party in Oklahoma," said Cole. "No one worked harder, no one helped and counseled more candidates and no one represented Republican values better than Sue, Skip and the Healey clan.

"But Sue was much more than a committed Republican. She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and grandmother, a civic leader, a generous philanthropist and a role model and mentor to younger men and women. There is no doubt in my mind that Sue Healey is in heaven with her beloved husband Skip.

"We all meet many people over the course of a lifetime. I have been privileged to know an extraordinary number of truly admirable individuals. But the two finest women I have ever known were my own mother and Sue Healey. Each represented the best values of the state, which each loved, and both symbolized with such distinction. Sue Healey was a great Oklahoman, and Oklahoma is a poorer place without her. I will revere and miss her for all the remainder of my days. My thoughts and prayers are with Sue's family in these sad days of loss and mourning."
