Cole Remembers Oklahoma City Tragedy on April 19, 1995

April 19, 2019

Norman, OK – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) today remembered the tragic bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building on April 19, 1995. The act of domestic terrorism 24 years ago claimed 168 innocent lives in Oklahoma City and left families, loved ones and communities forever changed.

"More than two decades later, we still mourn the terrible tragedy that took place in Oklahoma City on the morning of April 19, 1995," said Cole. "That fateful day forever changed us, leaving irreplaceable holes in families and communities. Indeed, the sting of heartbreak and pain of loss remains for the families, friends and loved ones of the 168 lives prematurely taken. As we mourn and remember, I remain eternally grateful for the first responders on the scene and the tremendous leadership of Governor Frank Keating, First Lady Cathy Keating, Oklahoma City Mayor Ron Norick and Congressman Frank Lucas. And I will never forget the outpouring of love, generosity and support extended by thousands of people across our state, our country and around the world, who joined in solidarity and offered to help in our time of great need."

Cole served as Oklahoma's Secretary of State and was in Oklahoma City at the time of the bombing.
