Cole Announces Deadlines and Guidelines for High School Art Competition

March 23, 2004

Norman, OK – The Twenty-third Annual Congressional High School Art Competition and National Exhibition, "An Artistic Discovery," is being launched in the Fourth Congressional District.

"This is an excellent opportunity for high school students to show their talent and abilities as they compete to have their work chosen to be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capital complex. I look forward to displaying the talent of Oklahoma's Fourth Congressional District to the other members of Congress," Congressman Cole said.

Students participating will have their art judged by three distinguished art educators from Oklahoma universities. While the winner's work will be sent to Washington, D.C., other participants' pieces will be displayed at the Norman Arts Council Art Gallery. The winner and one guest will be invited to the nation's capitol to attend a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and reception to commence the 2004 Artistic Discovery exhibition and honor the winning artists from across the nation.

Southwest Airlines will be providing air transportation for the winner and a guest to attend the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony and reception at the U.S. Capitol on July 13, 2004. This is an opportunity for a young constituent to have his or her talent nationally recognized and to experience our capitol in Washington, D.C.

Thursday, May 21, 2004 is the deadline for entry. Guidelines and additional information can be accessed at www.house.gov/cole under constituent services. You may also call Julia Leinen at Congressman Cole's Office in Norman, Oklahoma at (405) 329-6500.
