Task Force for Affordable Natural Gas to Hold Meeting at Oklahoma State Capitol
Washington, D.C. – On August 27, Congressman Tom Cole will host a Natural Gas Taskforce Meeting in the Blue Room at the State Capital beginning at 1:30 P.M. Congressman Tom Cole will be joined by Congressmen Joe Barton (TX-6) and John Shimkus (IL-19), also members of the Natural Gas Task Force.
“Oklahomans are concerned about the future of energy, especially natural gas. By holding this meeting we put Oklahoma on the forefront of a national discussion on how to curb the rising prices of natural gas. I look forward to having Congressman Barton and Congressman Shimkus take part in the meeting at the capital. We will be hearing testimony from local energy representatives that are effected by national gas prices," Congressman Cole said.
Corporation Commission Chairman Denise Bode and Oklahoma Secretary of Energy Robert Sullivan will be giving testimony on how natural gas prices affect Oklahomans. Other scheduled panelist include: Christine Hansen, Executive Director or Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission; Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association; Kerr McGee Corporation; Chesapeake Energy Corporation; ConocoPhillips Company; Duke Energy; OG&E Energy Company; and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.
In conjunction with the Natural Gas Task Force Meeting, members and staff from the committee will be touring a natural gas storage facility at ONEOK and a site tour of Dominion Energy in Tuttle.
