Congressman Tom Cole recently visited Pontotoc Technology Center.
Cole’s assistant, Amber Savage, arranged the visit. Congressman Cole attended a meeting on Jan. 22 at Pontotoc Technology Center- Business and Industry Services Division. He participated in the demonstration of the NEW Flex Health Classroom/Lab that trains all entry-level Long Term Care Workers such as Certified Nurse Aides. Pontotoc Technology Center, in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association, is creating a model for students to learn how to effectively care for residents in Long Term Care environments while suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease.
Susan Boyington, Community Outreach Coordinator for Southeastern Oklahoma Alzheimer’s Association, Andrea Pogue, Pontotoc Technology Center- PTC Coordinator, and Michelle Melton, instructor, shared information with Congressman Cole on the current strategy to train CNAs to appropriately care for Alzheimer’s residents.
Susan Boyington, Alzheimer’s Association, brought special guests, including Ron Grant/ He has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease and has been named Alzheimer’s Advocate of the Year. Also present was Jan Foisy, from the Alzheimer’s Association Oklahoma City Office.
