Press Release

Norman, OK – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) this week announced staff changes, including new hires and promotions, recently made to his office in Washington, D.C.

Adam Sullivan has been hired to advise Cole and lead the legislative team as Senior Advisor. Sullivan has held a variety of senior public policy roles across both the legislative and executive branches of the federal government and in the private sector – with an emphasis in appropriations, defense, foreign affairs, transportation, workforce and labor policy, agriculture and more. Prior to joining Cole’s office, he served as the Assistant Secretary of Transportation, Governmental Affairs, at the U.S. Department of Transportation.

“I am delighted to welcome Adam Sullivan to my office as Senior Advisor. His vast knowledge, tremendous experience and incredible expertise will indeed be a guiding force that greatly benefits the Fourth District of Oklahoma. I look forward to our work together in the days ahead,” said Cole.

Other changes include the promotions of Shane Hand and Sofia Deiro. An experienced Capitol Hill policy professional, Hand has been promoted to Senior Policy Advisor, Health, specializing closely on health issues and continuing to advise Cole on a variety of other policy areas. Prior to this promotion, Hand served the office for two years as Legislative Assistant. Previously serving as Staff Assistant, Deiro has been promoted to Legislative Aide, now managing constituent correspondence and assisting with legislative issues. Along with these promotions, Carter Cloud will continue serving in the office as Legislative Assistant, now handling Native American issues within her legislative portfolio.

In addition, after two years of service in a variety of positions, Melissa Stooksbury has been promoted from Press Assistant to Press Secretary. In her new role, she will continue contributing to Cole’s press shop while also serving as a new main point of contact for Fourth District and Oklahoma media outlets.

Finally, Emily Banister has been hired to serve as Staff Assistant. Prior to joining in this capacity, Banister served the office over the years in both official roles and internships.

“I am very proud to congratulate Shane, Sofia and Melissa on their promotions and to welcome Emily back as a permanent member of my staff,” said Cole. “We truly have a wonderful team assembled in my Washington office, and it is because of the unmatched dedication, drive and determination on display day in and day out. I look forward to the work we will achieve together in the days ahead and all that these fine individuals will contribute on behalf of the Fourth District of Oklahoma.”
