Cole Applauds Governor Stitt for Getting Oklahomans Back to Work

May 18, 2021

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt announced a return-to-work incentive for Oklahomans. According to Governor Stitt's plan, the first 20,000 Oklahomans currently receiving unemployment benefits who return to the workforce will receive a $1,200 incentive using funds from the American Rescue Plan.

"While I normally do not comment on state government matters, I felt compelled to share my appreciation for Governor Stitt's decision to utilize existing federal funds to incentivize Oklahomans to get back to work," said Cole. "Getting Oklahomans and Americans back in the workforce is critical to helping our economy get back on track. Indeed, there are jobs to fill, and I believe this is a responsible use of federal dollars. Governor Stitt and his Administration are to be commended for this wise use of the federal resources entrusted to them by Congress."
