January 24, 2020

Norman, OK – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the Susan B. Anthony (SBA) List applauded Cole's pro-life record during the 116th Congress, rating his record with the highest rank of "A" on the Susan B. Anthony National Pro-Life Scorecard.

"Recognized in our nation's founding Declaration of Independence is the belief that all are ‘endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights,' including the right to life. Throughout my service in the U.S House of Representatives, protection and defense of the fundamental right to life has always been and will always be one of my highest priorities," said Congressman Cole. "I pledge to continue lending my voice and vote to defend the most vulnerable among us, including the unborn who cannot speak for themselves."

According to the Scorecard listing on the website, the SBA List cited the following regarding Cole's exceptional A rating in defense of life.

"Congressman Cole has voted consistently to protect the lives of the unborn as well as the consciences of taxpayers who don't want their hard-earned tax dollars paying for abortion domestically or internationally. Rep. Cole has defended the Trump administration's pro-life regulatory efforts from pro-abortion attacks to prohibit their implementation.

"As Ranking Member in the House Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations subcommittee, Congressman Cole offered an amendment to restore the Trump administration's conscience protection rule. He also offered a unanimous consent request for consideration of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, and during a House Appropriations Committee bill markup, he offered an amendment that would prohibit funds to entities that do not provide life-saving care to abortion survivors."
