Washington, D.C. – Today, Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after attending the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies’ American Indian and Alaska Native public witness hearings:
“As a member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, tribal issues have always been at the forefront of the policy decisions I have made as a Member of Congress and as the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. I have been – and will remain – committed to doing whatever I can to ensure the federal government upholds its responsibility to Native Americans to provide basic services and resources throughout Indian Country,” said Congressman Cole. “I would like to thank the tribal witnesses for their time today, as hearing from each of them helps my committee with advancing our commitment to Tribal communities through the appropriations process.”
