Cole Calls for Speaker to Address Soaring Gas Prices
WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Congressman Tom Cole (OK-4) joined other leaders of Republican leadership today in sending a letter to Speaker Pelosi urging her to reveal the "commonsense plan" to lower gas prices that she promised two years ago. The Daily Fuel Gauge Report from AAA reports that the current national average for gasoline is the highest it has ever been at $3.51 a gallon.
"Speaker Pelosi championed a 'commonsense plan' to reduce the cost of gasoline two years ago," Congressman Cole said. "Two years is too long to wait for that plan to be made public. It is time for House Democrats to unveil their long overdue agenda to address our energy crisis and lower gas prices."
"House Republicans are willing to work with our colleagues from across the aisle to see that responsible solutions are formed to help the American public cope with crippling costs of energy and gasoline. We are asking Speaker Pelosi to reveal the details and costs of her plan and bring to light any proposed taxes on energy or gasoline that may be included in it. Americans were promised a solution to this crisis and they deserve to know what is being done to bring down skyrocketing gas prices."
