Cole Mourns Loss of Madeleine Albright
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the passing of Madeleine Albright, who was the first woman to serve as Secretary of the U.S. Department of State.
"While I cannot say that I knew former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright well, I did have the chance to interact with her on several occasions during my time in Congress.
"Secretary Albright and I did not always agree on the issues, but I always found her to be open, honest, candid and dedicated to our country. She defended the interests and values of our country with passion and commitment.
"As an immigrant, she appreciated the opportunities and freedoms that America provides to all its people. And as a woman in a profession traditionally dominated by men, she was a role model, a mentor and symbol of equal opportunity for all.
"As a proud American, Madeleine Albright will be missed by all. She served America with grace, pride and distinction. My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and loved ones as we all mourn her loss."
