Cole Votes Against Debt Limit Increase
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed S.J. Res 33, a measure to increase the debt limit by $2.5 trillion. Cole opposed the resolution.
"While I understand the importance of addressing the debt limit to prevent default, I will not support a measure put forward by Democrats that is obviously intended to support trillions more in irresponsible spending," said Cole. "Not only does this $2.5 trillion increase represent the largest of the kind in history, but the resolution does nothing to reduce the deficit or slow the growth of the U.S. national debt. Unfortunately, this will inevitably make inflation even worse for the American people and have far reaching consequences for years to come."
