Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after voting in favor of a short-term continuing resolution to avert a government shutdown:

“Shutting down the government, and in turn threatening the pay of our brave men and women in uniform, federal employees, and essential workers, is not the answer. A short-term continuing resolution is the best path forward to ensure that the government remains open while Congress continues to work together to reach a deal and complete the appropriations process,” said Congressman Cole. “As Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, I am working tirelessly to pass full-year appropriations bills that will advance responsible spending to get our nation on a better fiscal path, and I am hopeful lawmakers will enact these funding measures as soon as possible.”
