Congressman Cole Announces Grant Eligibility for Elgin

WASHINGTON, D.C. -Congressman Cole announced that the Agriculture Funding Conference Report for FY06 (H.R. 2744), which passed in the House today, includes a waiver to allow Elgin to receive grants and loans through the Rural Community Advancement Program. Congressman Cole added this waiver that will make Elgin eligible for these grants until 2010.

"I am very pleased that the agriculture funding bill included this important language to make rural develop grants available to the city of Elgin," Congressman Tom Cole said. "Rural communities, like Elgin, are vital to a solid future for Oklahoma. I will continue to work to make sure their individual needs are met."

The agriculture funding bill provides funding for food safety and inspections, food and nutrition programs and funds to support America's farmers and ranchers. Once this legislation is passed by the Senate, it will go the President for his signature.
