Congressman Tom Cole Announces Funds in Transportation Bill for Chickasha

September 22, 2004

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole voted today for legislation that will fund the continuation of the runway extension project at the Chickasha Airport. The Transportation, Treasury, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2005 (H.R. 5025) passed in the House today.

The Chickasha Municipal Airport is an important contributor to the economies of both Caddo and Grady counties," Congressman Cole said. "These funds will help them finish the extension on the runway in order to continue meeting the needs of their community."

Almost one billion dollars was designated for airport construction projects across the country to be made available through discretionary grants. Chickasha Airport was designated as a key project in H.R. 5025.

"Although the House legislation does not designate a specific amount to any airport, they have pinpointed Chickasha Airport as a priority project. I will work to ensure that the appropriate funds are included in the final version of the legislation," Congressman Tom Cole said.

The Transportation, Treasury, and Independent Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2005 provides more than $89.9 billion in budgetary resources for transportation projects across the country. It must now be passed by the Senate.
