Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after H.R. 2606, the Stigler Act Amendment of 2017, was passed by the House Natural Resources Committee. This legislation amends the Stigler Act of 1947, which restricts Native American allotted land to only persons of ½ degree of Native American blood.
The Dawes Act of 1887 authorized the federal government to survey tribal lands and divide them into allotted parcels for individual Native Americans.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the Office of Management and Budget released its proposal for a $15 billion rescissions package. This proposal is intended to rein in government spending and eliminate unobligated balances.
"Reducing excessive spending and finding places where cuts can be made is critical to addressing the federal debt and long-term spending problems," said Cole.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after President Trump announced the termination of the United States' participation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran, also known as the Iran Nuclear Deal.
"I support President Trump's decision to rescind the United States' participation in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran," said Cole. "This deal was bad from the onset – it was negotiated by a weak Administration and would have allowed Iran to become nuclear capable.
