Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed two bills, during its “Stop Government Abuse” legislative week, that would bring greater accountability and prevent abuse within the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), a member of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, released the following statement after Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel revealed cuts to the Department of Defense in President Obama’s budget for fiscal year 2015. Among many of the proposed changes, the Army would see a reduction from 522,000 soldiers to between 450,000 and 490,000; the Army National Guard would see a reduction from 355,000 to 335,000 by 2017.

Throughout my tenure in Congress, I have been a strong supporter of Israel and its right to exist. Like the United States, Israel is committed to living peaceably, fighting terrorism, defending freedom and protecting democracy. As we remain grounded in similar ideals and aware of the threats in our midst, we must continue fostering our relationship with Israel, our valuable friend and only democratic ally in the Middle East.
