In August I held a series of public town hall meetings and met with doctors, nurses and other health professionals in special health care forums. During those meetings, an overwhelming majority of attendees expressed deep concerns with H.R. 3200, the now infamous health care bill introduced in the House. Congress went back to work in early September and the House version of the health care bill was virtually dead-on-arrival. The Senate, however, is dealing with its own version, introduced recently by Senator Max Baucus.

"I would like to encourage parents and teachers to take time to discuss the significance of Constitution Day with their children," Congressman Cole said. "The Constitution is among our most significant and important founding documents and it is literally the foundation upon which our system of government is built. It is very important for future generations of Americans to learn about and respect the Constitution."

WASHINGTON - Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) recently co-sponsored the "Defund ACORN Act." This legislation calls for the federal government to cut financial ties with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Cole has consistently condemned the housing association's abuses and wants the federal government to stop sending taxpayer dollars to ACORN and its affiliates.

WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) gave the following statement on the House floor regarding Congressman Wes Watkins. Today the House of Representatives passed H.R. 1713, a bill designing a post office in Bennington, Okla. as the "Wes Watkins Post Office."
