Cole Supports House Passage of COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement following House passage of S. 619, the COVID-19 Origin Act of 2023, which would require the Director of National Intelligence to declassify information relating to links between the Wuhan Institute of Virology and the origin of COVID-19 within 90 days. Cole supported the legislation.

“Questioning if COVID-19 originated from a laboratory leak is neither a stretch of logic nor a conspiracy theory,” said Cole. “In fact, even the Department of Energy and the FBI have assessed this is the likely scenario. If the global spread of COVID-19 came from the malpractices of the Chinese Communist Party, then the American people and the entire world deserve to know. I’m proud to vote for this legislation that would ensure that as much information as possible is declassified and made public to help the United States better prepare for future pandemics.”
