Since it was established in 1935, the Social Security program has become one of the most popular, and relied upon, government programs. A typical retired American will derive more than fifty percent of their income from Social Security. And approximately twenty five percent of American retirees rely on Social Security for nearly ninety percent of their income.

Our nation has been fortunate in the past to have strong leaders who have recognized the threat posed by an aggressive Russia. Virtually every president since Harry Truman has known that maintaining a strong national defense and a healthy skepticism of the former Soviet Union was our highest national security priority. But since this Administration has taken office, Russia has taken full advantage of the weak foreign policy of President Obama.

Americans have become all too familiar with the recent confusing and shady practices of the Internal Revenue Service, and no one looks forward to seeing an envelope from them in their mailbox. It is one of the most unpopular government agencies because it is also one of the most powerful in its ability to literally ruin people’s lives.

Americans justifiably expect an agency with this kind of power to have internal controls which ensure that American taxpayers are treated fairly and equitably.
