These brave individuals truly understand the meaning of patriotism and know more of sacrifice than many of us will realize in a lifetime.

After three full weeks of legislative business in Washington, it’s refreshing to be back in Oklahoma just in time for Small Business Week. Throughout my service to the Fourth District, I’ve had the great privilege of meeting numerous individuals who either own or work for a small business. During every visit and after every story I hear, I am reminded that American prosperity rides on the success of Main Street.

Washington, DC – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 2029, the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for fiscal year 2016. With $76.6 billion in total discretionary spending, this legislation provides funding for current and ongoing infrastructure and support projects for active-duty military as well as programs, assistance and benefits for our nation’s veterans.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed S. Con Res. 11, the FY16 Budget Resolution Conference Report. This agreement balances the budget in 10 years, repeals Obamacare to lead the way for patient-centered reforms and provides funding to maintain a strong national defense. Passage of the legislation in both chambers will mark the first time since 2009 that Congress has agreed upon a budget.

The increasing boldness that the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL/ISIS) continues to display makes it abundantly clear that the president has badly underestimated its resolve to wage jihad against our allies in the Middle East and, eventually, the United States. Considering that the terrorist group has already been responsible for killing Americans and attacking a number of our allies, it should be clearly evident that the United States cannot ignore the escalating conflict.
