I stand today in opposition to H.R. 7617, the second set of appropriations bills to be considered by the House.

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Cole (OK-04), Vice Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Committee, made remarks on the House floor during consideration of H.R. 5687, a supplemental appropriations bill for disaster aid.

The political aim here is for our Democratic friends to suggest that the president either wants war with Iran or has acted hastily and precipitously and recklessly. Neither of those things are true.

Impeachment of a president is one of the most consequential acts the House of Representatives can undertake, and it should only be done after the fullest and most careful consideration.
