This week, lawmakers are returning to Washington, D.C. after spending several weeks in their districts. The extended time during the customary August district work period each year always provides the opportunity to interact directly with constituents and hear firsthand about the issues that matter most to them. I am always thankful for this time to gain that perspective before returning to legislative work.
Since being back in the Fourth Congressional District for the customary August district work period, I have had the privilege of meeting with several small business owners and Chambers of Commerce across the district.
Since Republicans took back the majority in the House, one of our commitments was to finish the appropriations process in a timely manner, rein in Democrats’ excessive spending and accomplish real policy changes for the American people. As we approach the critical government funding deadline of September 30, the House Appropriations Committee has worked to ensure full-year funding is completed.
One-party Democratic rule in Washington notably led to several unprecedented crises in our country and around the globe. However, despite the challenges of working with a Democrat Senate and president, House Republicans have kept our commitments made to the American people these past six months upon taking back the House majority.
